Just got back from the David Yurman Sample Sale at Chelsea Market and wanted to give you guys the 411 of what’s there.
Usually the lines are crazy by the time the doors open (I am talking about a one hour wait), so I have not been able to shop right when the sale begins. This time, the sale started at 10am so I was able to line up right before work to check it out – most cable bracelets sell out within the first 30 minutes, so I was most excited for this!
I got in line inside Chelsea Market at 8:50 and there were 3-4 people waiting. 10 minutes in, we were told that we had to wait on the outside of the building at 410 W16th Street- so take note if you are interesting in coming – entrance is on the outside of Chelsea Market.
So how was the loot? This time around, I had my eye on the cable bracelets since I knew that they were the first to go in this sale. I was the first to get to them, and the selection was a bit disappointing – only 5 4mm bracelets available. Everything is 50% off, so that makes it ~$300 (original price is $595). I can’t find the exact one on the website, this “Cable Classics Bracelet with Gold” is the most similar at $395.
Spotted the Metro Curb Wide Ring with Gold (50% off from $425 – they had quite a few of these), and finally a Cable Inside Bangle with White Diamonds (50% off from $475) – they only had 1 left when I saw it).
Overall, I found the selection to be more limited than what they’ve had in the past. If you’re looking for a bold statement ring, they’ll have those there. For a reference of price, just check out their website, because almost everything is 50% off the regular price.
There’s usually a “Specially Priced Merchandise” section which is more than 50% off. I’ve seen all selections there in the past – rings, bracelets and necklaces, but this year the selection was more limited here as well. There were some earrings that sold for $95, so it could make a good gift if you’re looking for something with a brand name.
By the time I was leaving at around 10:15am, there was a bit of a line inside, but I don’t think it would have taken more than 30 minutes like the crazier lines I’ve seen in the past.
To reminiscence about the past since I really thought the selection was much better, here’s what I was eyeing. I ended up buying one of the rings from 2012, and now debating if I regret not getting one of the rings from 2013, here’s the Crossover with Diamonds for reference. ๐
Either way, I hope if you end up going to the sale, that you get what you’re looking for, but the warning is that there’s not much. My coworker mentioned that there could be better selections at the outlets which she frequents. Just sayin’.
