The BEST Guacamole Recipe

Super Bowl Sunday is this weekend, and of course, I had to share the recipe to a party favorite – guacamole! (For another delicious Super Bowl must, check out my recipe for Baked Buffalo Wings!) Guacamole is so easy to make and at the same time delicious and healthy! Fresh made guac is so much better than anything that has been pre-packaged so I always opt to make it myself. Prepare at least an hour in advance so all the flavors mend together, trust me, this hour wait is so worth the wait.

Guacamole

Serves 4
3 avocados – peeled, pitted, and mashed
1 lime, juiced
1 teaspoon salt
1/2 cup diced onion
3 tablespoons chopped fresh cilantro
2 roma tomatoes, diced and seeded
1 teaspoon minced garlic
1 pinch ground cayenne pepper

In a bowl, mash together the avocados, lime juice, and salt to a texture of your choice: chunky or smooth.
Mix in onion, cilantro, tomatoes, garlic. Finish with a dash of cayenne pepper. Refrigerate for at least one hour to mend flavors together. Serve!

Shelly’s Sidenote

I know sometimes that it might be tempting to add more of a certain ingredient that you like, but in this recipe, I highly advise against it. For me, these ingredients would be lime and garlic, so trust me from experience, don’t add more than what’s called for. Adding more of one thing isn’t going to make this taste better, it is going to make it taste off balance and throws off the flavor. Further, for once, I feel that all the ingredients are necessary in this recipe, there are no substitutes – each ingredient gives this guacamole its delicious flavor!!
