Uncomfortably Excited

For the last year, I’ve been thinking a lot about blogging again, but every time I try to put words on the page, it feels very overwhelming. I haven’t posted anything in over a year. How do I even begin?

I started Shelly in Real Life in 2010 as a creative outlet for me to share my musings with the world. Who knew if anyone was even going to read it? Who knew what I was even going to write about? To my surprise, over the years, I’ve connected with many people from all walks of life because of this blog and the various topics I cover.

One of my favorite memories of an encounter was meeting my first reader. Trevor, my brother’s coworker, was moving to New York City from Dublin and stumbled upon my post for Moving to NYC: Broker & Negotiations 101. Not soon after he discovered my blog, my brother and I threw a housewarming party where Trevor spotted me.

“Wait… YOU’RE Shelly in Real Life!”

Oh, the irony of meeting “Shelly” in real life right? (haha) He went on to tell me how my post helped him through the process of moving to the big apple. Encounters like these fuel my passion to continue this blog of mine.

I can’t begin to tell you how excited I get when readers tell me how my DIY Clean Cleanse posts have helped them get started on their healthy living journey. It’s humbling and exciting to know that the words that I put on this page has an ever-lasting effect on someone whom I have yet to meet.

So I’m writing this post as a way to say, I’m back! It’s Shelly, same ol’ girl who aims to live by the mantra of eating well, traveling often and now keeping it as real as ever.
