The ADHD limiting belief that kept me stuck for ye The ADHD limiting belief that kept me stuck for years: โ€œIโ€™m just not good at being consistent.โ€

Every time someone else accomplished something I wanted, Iโ€™d use this as my excuse. it became part of my identity.

But in 2022, I started collecting proof instead of excuses. almost every day since then, Iโ€™ve stepped on my Peloton app working toward my โ€œDaily Peloton for a yearโ€ goal.
I havenโ€™t finished it yet. Iโ€™ve skipped days. But I keep showing up anyway โ€” and THATโ€™S the proof. Iโ€™m building evidence that I AM someone who follows through, even when itโ€™s not perfect.

Slowly, the narrative is changing. Iโ€™m not someone who canโ€™t be consistent. Iโ€™m one of the most consistent people I know.

And having this proof makes it so much easier to stop falling back on that old story.

It's hard for people w/ ADHD to stay focused while cleaning, but I've found that spending an extra 5 minutes writing out a list before getting started keeps me on track. 

The list has 3 categories: 

1) things that have a place (takes 1 min, quick and easy)
2) things that take multiple steps (that takes 3-5 minutes)
3) things to decide later (to reduce decision fatigue)

Understanding the Bathtub Model of Stress has been a complete game-changer for me. ๐Ÿ™Œ๐Ÿผ๐Ÿง–โ€โ™€๏ธ๐Ÿ›€๐Ÿผ 

Just like a bathtub can get clogged over time, your stress levels can overflow if you donโ€™t manage to clear the drain properly. If youโ€™re experiencing burnout, this is a good sign that your tub is completely overflowing. How do you take a bubble bath if you canโ€™t even clear the drain?

Alright, so how do you triage?

๐Ÿญ) ๐—ฅ๐˜‚๐˜๐—ต๐—น๐—ฒ๐˜€๐˜€๐—น๐˜† ๐—ฐ๐—ผ๐—ป๐˜๐—ฟ๐—ผ๐—น ๐˜๐—ต๐—ฒ ๐˜€๐—ผ๐˜‚๐—ฟ๐—ฐ๐—ฒ๐˜€ ๐—ผ๐—ณ ๐˜€๐˜๐—ฟ๐—ฒ๐˜€๐˜€ ๐—ถ๐—ป ๐˜†๐—ผ๐˜‚๐—ฟ ๐—น๐—ถ๐—ณ๐—ฒ. Turn off the faucet to the incoming stress that you can control. For me, it was working on controlling my inner thoughts that stressed me out, and deleting outside noise that didnโ€™t serve me (e.g. deleting IG for a few months).
๐Ÿฎ) ๐— ๐—ผ๐˜ƒ๐—ฒ๐—บ๐—ฒ๐—ป๐˜ & ๐—ฅ๐—ฒ๐˜€๐˜. Stress hormones can build up in your body, and the best way to get rid of it is through movement. Iโ€™ve made daily movement a priority for this reason. If you donโ€™t have energy for movement, then rest. Real rest โ€” not resting and scrolling on social media. ๐Ÿ˜‰
๐Ÿฏ) ๐—จ๐—ป๐—ฐ๐—น๐—ผ๐—ด ๐˜†๐—ผ๐˜‚๐—ฟ ๐—ฑ๐—ฟ๐—ฎ๐—ถ๐—ป. The last few years, Iโ€™ve gotten REAL honest with myself about what lifestyle habits donโ€™t serve me anymore in my 30s. Iโ€™ve been really focused on prioritizing better habits so I can thrive, not just survive.

If youโ€™re in a rough season, I hope this gives you some hope that things will get better, but youโ€™ll need to get real on how you deal with your overflowing tub.
