My favorites

So you wanna eat good food eh? Well you’ve come to the right place! Here’s my list of restaurants that I think is worth checking out.

Most of them are 3 and 4 stars, those are the ones I think they’re worth your time, money and stomach space. I’ve sprinkled a few reviews here and there where I think it’s popular in NYC, but less worthwhile, so you’ve been warned!

I’ve already done the hard part of doing all the research of only eating at the best of the best places for you. I hope these posts saves you from Food FOMO. The last thing you should be thinking when you dine out is “Crap, I should have gotten that instead!! *RAGE*”

I’ve separated these into two different lists: Everyday Eats and Special Occasions.

Click on the restaurant’s name to see my review. Right now these are sorted by star rating, but you can also click the headers such as Neighborhood to sort the table. Please let me know in the comments below if you have any fave restaurants I should check out ASAP!

Caveat: the sortable table below might not work in older browsers. Sorry!

You’re not depressed, you just need a trip to Euro You’re not depressed, you just need a trip to Europe 🙃.

When you’re under chronic stress and running on empty, it’s easy to wonder if it’s something more. Here’s the quick gut check: if getting distance from the thing burning you out makes you feel better, great, you probably just need more rest and recovery. But if a trip to Europe doesn’t lift your mood at all, that might be your sign to reach out to a therapist or someone who can help.

This is Episode 4 of the Burnout Diaries where I share frameworks on how to get out of burnout.

✈️ Send this to a friend who needs a trip to Europe because they’re feeling burned out and working way too hard.
you’re not disorganized. you’re avoiding a decisio you’re not disorganized. you’re avoiding a decision that feels permanent.

start organizing with what you already have, even if it’s a little ugly. figure out where things actually go, and live with it long enough to know it works. the aesthetic storage comes after.

this took me years to figure out. 🤯

✨ send it to your type-a ADHD friend who aspires to live like The Home Edit but is spiraling on the wrong step.
they say the days are long but the years are short they say the days are long but the years are short. and nothing has taught me more about this than becoming a new mom.

the tension of wanting to spend every waking minute with your baby yet wanting time away to be yourself. trying to give your baby everything you can yet still wondering if you’re doing enough.

that’s the beautiful tension of motherhood that our artist @j.brian captured in this two-panel piece during his first few months of becoming a father, watching his own wife Shelby become a mom.

(yes: two J’s, a Shelly and a Shelby, all becoming parents at the same time. 😅)

when we first asked jb for this commission, we knew he’d become a father just a few months after us. J and I commissioned this for baby t, because we wanted something in our home that represents our first year as a family.

this is actually the second piece we’ve had j.brian paint for us. the first hangs right by our treadmill. our living room wall sat empty for a long time because it’s massive, and it’s a huge commitment to put something up there that we look at every day.

knowing we have this connection with j.brian made it extra special, knowing he’s captured the pure bliss and struggle of the first months of parenthood. it’s now hanging in what will probably be baby t’s playroom for the foreseeable future.

and what made it even more special: j.brian, Shelby, and baby Rain delivered it to us in person. watching our babies play together while we hung it is a memory i’ll keep forever.

this is no. 27 of my 40x40 list. now that this beautiful piece hangs here, i honestly can’t imagine it not being in our lives.

😰10+ months of eczema that won’t go away. so i’m d 😰10+ months of eczema that won’t go away. so i’m doing a 21 day elimination diet to try to get to the root of it. the clean program has been a tried and true reset for me, so i’m leaning into that and making some of my favorite recipes.

turns out becoming a mom gave me a weird superpower: i don’t care as much about what i’m eating on a day to day basis anymore, so eating the same 3 meals for a week was easier than expected.

🫠anyone else dealt with eczema like this? and if you want the recipes, tell me in the comments.

if i couldn’t handle burnout at a job that paid me even on the days i didn’t feel like working... how was i ever going to handle the stress of running my own business?

sharing one of the most important lessons i learned about burnout: I kept looking for a new strategy when i needed to fix my state first.

this is episode 3 of the burnout diaries, where i share frameworks i learned to recovery from burnout. next time we’ll talk about if it’s burnout, or something else.

tell me in the comments: are you also guilty of chasing the dopamine from the shiny new object as a way to fix your burn out? 🙋🏻‍♀️

the best time for me to clean is when i feel pisse the best time for me to clean is when i feel pissed off enough to do it. 😅

rage cleaning works because the energy has to go somewhere. but if i just start cleaning without a plan, i end up in two traps: getting distracted by my own visual to do list, or stuck in decision fatigue on stuff i don’t know what to do with.

so before i touch anything, i make a quick list. things that have a place go first, that’s the easy win. everything else waits.

nine times out of ten, twenty minutes later the mess is gone, even if the to do list pile is still sitting there.

tell me in the comments, are you a rage cleaner too?
